Zignal Deployed on Nova's 3G Network

Handles TV, video and mobile content on Iceland's first purpose-built 3G mobile network

Leading broadband solutions provider Industria today announced that Nova, an Icelandic 3G and fixed convergent network operator, has launched Iceland's first purpose-built 3G network with content services provided by Industria's Zignal solution.

Nova selected Industria's Zignal Software Suite to deliver interactive content to the Nova subscribers. This includes Industria's Zignal Mobile TV solution, which enables Nova to deliver streaming TV and video and other entertainment content to mobile handsets, as well as other digital media receivers.

The Zignal Software Suite offers the possibility to manage all content on a single delivery platform that is both expandable and customisable. The latest addition to the Zignal product range is the Zignal Mobile Client, which makes it possible for operators to deploy Mobile TV services on mobile devices with lightweight or non-standard browsers.

The Nova network was designed and built from the ground up, from the initial analysis phase and all the way through to the launch, by the Industria subsidiary INS Iceland. This included the setup of all technical infrastructure, as well as project management and the provision of a range of converged value-added services.

Industria has emphasised the use of open standards in its software development, which greatly facilitates integration with customers' Operation and Billing Support Systems (OSS/BSS) and other third-party solutions, such as Conditional Access and Digital Rights Management Systems.

Designed to TeleManagement Forum standards for ready connectivity with all leading CRM, OSS, NMS, and BSS systems, the Zignal Server can operate in connection with a great number of systems in the operator's existing technology portfolio, without the need for costly and time-consuming adaptations. A powerful and flexible API adds additional capabilities for operators to integrate and customise their Zignal solution, whether it is branding the UI or making sure the system will grow with the operation.
